ACCESSIBILITY FOR PARLIAMENT.UK

Accessibility

Our website was available to the entire British public and I worked on making it more accessible to people with disabilities. I attended web accessibility courses in order to pass on best practice to new content editors on our site. I also followed the Government Digital Service Design Principles and the WC3 guidelines closely to contribute to the development.

Examples of improving web accessibility for parliament.uk:

  • I made sure image alt attributes were always available for people with screen readers.
  • I made sure I used contrasting colors.
  • I regularly tested new web content using specialist accesibility software.
  • I added closed captions for our YouTube video content.
